Imagine you're a traveler and suddenly, while you're strolling around the city, some random dudes just surround you and eagerly ask you with open-ended questions Your mileage may vary, though. If you find it's helpful, then good for you. My method is to imitate various English sources and create a mixed accent, you can imagine as if you're talking with someone else on random/ specific topics, by this way you are able to both improve your reflex, reaction and your overall accent... The hell i'm talking about, this surely even sounds more eccentric and bizarre than the aforementioned method
It's "common" nowadays precisely because it's effective, in a different manner anyway. Nothing beats the real thing after all. People utilizing this method don't go after tourists per se, if you're a conman trying to pitch sales then maybe. Neighborhoods where foreigners settle down for a long period of time are preferred instead since they're much more comfortable with anyone striking a conversation.
The English materials you find on the Internet won't give you the same experience, because talking to the natives means using casual English and that's often times miles harder to make out the words since they speak faster and tend to jampack so many slangs in between.
In the end, if you aim for academic English valued in proficiency tests like IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, etc. then that's not exactly helpful because IELTS in particular values your range of vocabulary - the ability of using complicated or fancy words. They also prefer you to speak slowly and clearly with enough information so chatting with a random native speaker is only gonna help with your reflex or the ability to hold a conversation. Generally, language centers are still the best option since the teachers are catered to guide you in that direction.

It surely is effective and most importantly, it costs you absolutely nothing and you're also exposed to various accents from all over the world

IELTS, in my opinion, is basically another similar test to the college entrance exam (Literature), where fancy (but please, no over the top vocabulary) and complex words are preferred

You seem to possess a firm command of English

Re: Practicing English with vOzers :D

recently I only listen Cantonese or Hokkienese song. It's smoother than English song.
I guess that my English recently hasn't been improved or it is developing too slow.
too much word to say.

He asked me this question by email. However, I think it is better to public to community than in private. Could you please help him out?

Google is your best friend. Simply type "difference between can and be able to" and the very results are shown right on top. I can never fathom why people can spend their time to type a question that can be easily found on the Internet, and then wait for someone to answer for them. That waiting time could take hours or days on Voz I've already given you the keywords, don't expect me to put the links down here
